Abstract
Parent child interaction therapy (PCIT) is an evidence-based program for the treatment
of various behavioral disorders in early childhood (age 2-7 years old; Eyeberg,1988). This presentation will review the history of the core features of the program, adaptations, and empirical support for the treatment of disorders, such as Disruptive Behavior Disorders, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED), Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and Anxiety Disorders. PCIT is internationally recognized as a highly-effective, manualized treatment that focuses on the family and strengthening
the relationship between the parent and the child.
