Background information
Team-Teach training is a series of positive handling strategies (including physical restraint) to support those who display challenging behaviour, through a whole setting holistic approach, working with leadership and management, actively committed to reducing restraint and risk. Team-Teach is widely used in the UK, Australia, it has been adopted in New Zealand, Jamaica and by the English Schools Foundation schools in HK because of its effectiveness in meeting the specific needs of a wide range of disabilities as well as for those displaying behavioural and/or emotional difficulties. The techniques have been used in a wide variety of school and adult settings.
Participants will be introduced the Team-Teach concept of using the least intrusive positive handling strategy and a continuum of gradual and graded techniques including some physical techniques. Ms Kit Chan will also share her successful experience of adopting the Team –Teach in a special school setting in HK.
