Sleep Problems in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder
Abstract
Sleep problems are common among individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), yet they are often overlooked, as they tend to be perceived as part of the core diagnosis. When left untreated, these issues can significantly impact a child’s behaviour and daytime functioning, and may lead to increased stress and disharmony within the family.
In this talk, the presenter will share with the audience the most frequently encountered sleep challenges in children with ASD, strategies for addressing them, and other co-occurring conditions that are prevalent in this population and may further disrupt sleep.
